Cream Portal – Pre-Design Process & UX Foundations
Creme Portal is a mediator platform designed to bridge the gap between a core design system and multiple brand-specific implementations. The portal supports two primary user types—Admins and Creators. Creators represent different brand teams (Brand 1, Brand 2, and Brand 3) and are responsible for updating their brand’s design components while maintaining alignment with the overarching core design guidelines. Admins review these updates, validate them for consistency, and approve or request revisions. To deeply understand the needs and workflows of both roles, I conducted 1:1 Zoom sessions with an Admin (Architect) and multiple Creators (Developers). These discussions helped uncover their goals, responsibilities, terminology, pain points, and expectations around ownership and collaboration. Based on these insights, I developed detailed personas for both user types and mapped a clear process workflow, highlighting how design changes move from creation to review and approval. I then translated this workflow into wireframes, giving the team a visual representation of how the portal would support each step—from submitting updates to validating and approving changes. This foundation allowed us to create a more intuitive, structured, and role-specific experience, ensuring both coherence with the core design system and flexibility for brand-level customization.
